The Roanoke estate vineyard has just six rows of Merlot that comprise a single acre. The tannins are remarkably soft for a young wine, and the texture is truly fine, but what stands out is the flavor saturation. Chocolate and coffee arrive early, with a headliner of raspberry, complete with a bevy of floral undertones in tow. Balance is a critical element here, and really key to the wine’s success. Enjoy now, or cellar. A note on aging...as one of our "long arc" wines, this Merlot will continue to develop for another ten years, or so. If you have both the patience and the facilities to ensure safe storage, this bottle will prove ambrosial in 2035. Harvested October 2020.
